If traveling around the world has been a dream of yours, Chaffey College can make this dream come true. The school offers study abroad programs in locations such as Madrid, Costa Rica, Italy and other destinations around the world.

This could be a great opprotunity for students to excel further as individuals as well as a student. I got the chance to study in Madrid, Spain for my freshman year of college and it was unquestionably the best experience of my life. I learned many new things during my time studying abroad such as strengthening my skills in my independence.

I also got the honor of embracing Spanish culture and meeting new people from around the world. I created strong friendships with locals I met and I still keep in contact with them till this day. You can learn a lot from living abroad just by making conversation with new people.

Being away from my family and friends taught me a lot about myself and I learned how to overcome obstacles more efficiently. The city of Madrid and the people in it, welcomed me with open arms for the three months I was there.

Vanessa Marquez, a former student who studied for the spring semester in Madrid states, “The most exciting part was being able to experience a new culture and getting out of my comfort zone, the experience was truly life changing.”

Marquez also goes onto explain, “Being in Madrid brought me peace and overall helped me grow as an individual”

There are various activities and tourist attractions to explore in Spain such as art museums, cathedrals, National parks and local bars. The city is full of life and it is almost impossible to ever be bored.

Chaffey made my study abroad experience trouble free. The program handled everything from flights, room accommodations, metro passes and the excursions we went on throughout the semester. I know some people may be fearful of leaving their families for months on end, but the program provides support through 24/7 hotlines and in office hours.

Although the program makes it as easy as possible to navigate, it is encouraged to still do research beforehand, do intensive research on the city you will be living in, as well as the program as a whole. If anyone is considering this experience, stop by at the campus’ international career center for more information.

This could be a great opprotunity for students to excel further as individuals as well as a student. I encourage everyone to study abroad if the opportunity presents itself.
