Good Samaritan in Maryland rescues infant thrown into bay during crash

Jumping over a highway guard rail, a good Samaritan rescued an infant who had been thrown from a car and into the water during a crash around 2:45pm. The child was ejected from a car on the Route 90 bridge in Ocean City and landed in the Assawoman Bay. Authorities were called to the scene and discovered that the car the baby was in was hanging off the side of the bridge. 

"There were other cars involved in the crash," officials said. 

Firefighters also reached the scene and paramedics treated the patients. A total of seven people were affected including the baby.

Shelter Seeks Home For Sweet Dog Who’s Been There For Nearly 4 Years

Ginger, a dog, has been in an animal shelter for almost four years. Loved by staff and volunteers, she is treated right and handled properly at the shelter. However after these many years, the animal shelter decided to help Ginger find a new home of her own. The organization wrote a Facebook post detailing how long Ginger has been looking for an adopter, including a photo of her and a sign. The sign states, “I have been in the shelter for 1,456 days. Please adopt me.” The process of finding her a home has been challenging as she has specific needs that a new family must be able to handle. The organization includes adoption applications on the group’s website for anyone interested!

Chick-Fil-A is facing a sauce shortage

Chick-Fil-A is now limiting the number of sauces they are giving out to customers. The company is only giving customers one dipping sauce per item ordered at many of its 2,600 US restaurants. Fast food restaurants have been hit especially hard in these recent months with both a labor shortage and supply chain issues. Chicken shortages have also been a factor in other fast food chains including KFC, Buffalo Wild Wings and Wingstop. Due to this, they’re having to pay steep prices. However, Chick-Fil-A has been fortunate enough to not be affected by the chicken shortage.

Reducing the Waste of Surplus Food

Huge amounts of food are thrown away as supermarkets offload produce that has passed its best before date. Restaurants, cafes and bakeries dispose of meals that are uneaten for similar reasons. An app called, Too Good To Go, has been created and offered in 14 European countries. Launched in 2016, it’s been downloaded by 22 million people! The app allows users to see which outlets in their neighborhood have surplus food available that day. Then, they are able to pick up at closing time.

Covid: Couple with Down’s Syndrome stop shielding to plan wedding

Chris Miller, a young man with Down’s Syndrome who grew up in rural Wales has been unsure that he’d ever find “the one”. The 38 year old is now waiting for Covid restrictions to ease so he is able to have his dream wedding with his fiancee! His fiancee, Ffion, is 22 years old, and also has Down’s Syndrome. After two years of dating, Chris popped the question during the first lockdown and Ffion said “yes”.
