2024 Clash at the Coliseum

By Tristan Ell

NASCAR made their third trip to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, Feb. 3rd. This event is known as the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum which is an exhibition race that kicks off the NASCAR season.

Originally the weekend festivities were scheduled to be a two-day event but the threat of weather pushed everything to Saturday. This caused the Heat races and Lance Chance Qualifying (LCQ) race to be canceled.

The day then consisted of a combination of practice and qualifying with the fastest 22 cars making the main event and the rest of the field going home, excluding 2023 champion Ryan Blaney who got in on a provisional. This led to the 150-lap main event which saw tons of action and close bumper-to-bumper racing.
