Top 3 Environmental Websites

By: Jazmine Martinez

On Sept. 23, 2019, Greta Thunberg stirred the pot with politicians, delivering a wide-spread speech (only five minutes in length) at UN Climate Action Summit. She brought forth the urgency to fix the climate crisis that has been happening over the past thirty years. Thunberg ends the speech:

“We will not let you get away with this. Right here, right now, is where we draw the line. The world is waking up, and change is coming whether you like it or not.”

It gets tedious and even overwhelming trying to find the right source for environmental news and information. A lot of the time, we don’t search for information unless it is convenient to access. Here are three environmental platforms to guide you to knowledge in order to take action.

Greenpeace

https://www.greenpeace.org/usa/

“Our fight to save the planet has grown more serious — the threat of global warming, destruction of ancient forests, deterioration of our oceans, and the threat of a nuclear disaster loom large."

Greenpeace has offices worldwide, making their corporation well-known globally. They actively spread awareness to promote peace and conservation of Earth. Their easy-to-use website allows their users to access all of the global issues from our forests and oceans to defending democracy and climate. Greenpeace allows users to access stories, research, and news in 25 different topics.

Grist

https://grist.org

“Grist is a beacon in the smog — an independent, irreverent news outlet and network of innovators working toward a planet that doesn’t burn and a future that doesn’t suck.”

This non-profit organization helps people live within the environment without hurting it. From topics of climate to politics and even advice, the website offers multiple different newsletters that won’t just spam your email with useless information. Also, it is all for free! The company partners with technologists, activists, artists, politicians, and storytellers by integrating each others skills to make a change to our ecosystem and environment in many different ways. Articles range through politics and business to food and climate.

Treehugger

https://www.treehugger.com

“Partial to a modern aesthetic, we strive to be a one-stop shop for green news, solutions, and product information.”

Treehugger has a focus of a larger scale of technology, business, energy, and living. Don’t go looking for any offices, because everything is solely done online! Their slideshows also set them aside from other websites, giving a set of photographs that show the beauty of animals and the environment.
