Professor Keith Montgomery on California's Treatment of Black Lives

To administration, faculty, adjunct, student, campus and community:

RE "Stephon Clark, No charges brought against officers":

On March 18, 2018, nearly 12 months ago, a 22-year-old Black man who was standing in his grandmother's backyard in Sacramento, California while on the cell phone ultimately became the victim of state sanctioned execution by several officers, who mistook him for a person engaging in vandalistic activities, and his cell phone for a gun. Approximately 1 year later, the DA (Anne Marie Schubert), who (also took a $420,000 campaign contribution from the officers was to determine if charges should be brought up during the investigation phase) decided on March 2, 2019 to not bring charges against these state executioners with badges.

California, in all her pristine glory and "progressive" ideologies, has once again shown herself to be as dubiously saturated with racial animosities, white supremacist tendencies and devoid of justice. Although, on certain perspectives, California differs from more authoritarian right winged states; she still upholds the devaluing of Black lives just as much as the segregated south of old! It is perfectly acceptable for officers to publicly execute and lynch Black people with no regards, and enjoy civic lack of accountability as our failed justice system turns a blind eye. Justice is blind, blind to the value of Black lives!

I would be remiss to exclude the fact that at this point our state's attorney general (Xavier Becerra) has also cowered considering this grave injustice that are habitually perpetuated across our nation, but most notably here in our own state. Keeping in mind the tremendous power police unions and their political force, they show utter contempt against anyone who attempts to rectify the vile actions of these vicious executioners. Shame on them for their complicity with overt corruption, and collaboration with state sanctioned violence. They no longer deserve to be in their respectable political positions since they have willfully, openly and disdainfully disavowed their oaths of office!
