When I started my journey the breeze recalled the warm welcoming atmosphere I entered. I never would have thought I would be writing to you, my editors, and the team.

On March 18, 2018, nearly 12 months ago, a 22-year-old Black man who was standing in his grandmother's backyard in Sacramento, California while on the cell phone ultimately became the victim of state sanctioned execution by several officers, who mistook him for a person engaging in vandalistic activities, and his cell phone for a gun.
